Are you renting?
Have your wages been cut or have you lost your job recently?
Are you having issues paying your rent?
Although recent legislation has frozen rents at current levels until the end of June, we all know that rents across Ireland are far above levels of affordability for most of us. Evictions also can’t happen at the moment, but what happens at the end of this? Rent arrears will pile up, leaving renters who’ve lost income in a hugely precarious position. Renters should not be punished during this public health crisis. Landlords are getting breaks of up to six months on their mortgages – why shouldn’t this be passed on to tenants?
To help you out, we’ve put together a short and snappy letter that you can post or e-mail to your landlord, requesting a reduction in your rent.
Fill in your details, let us know about the situation you’re facing and the letter draft is there when you submit the form.
