October News Update

🏠 CATU has been busy, between building new committees, engaging in membership defense, and growing across the island of Ireland.

✊ Our membership is fast approaching the 600 members mark. The great work of all the local committees, doing doorknocking, stalls and actions, where Covid restrictions allow, has paid off massively.

✔️ There are now 9 CATU local committees officially launched: six in Dublin, one each in Cork, Maynooth and Galway. There are many other areas where the National Union committee is providing organising support and advice, including Belfast and Limerick, and a number of other parts of Dublin, including in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown and Tallaght.

🗺️ CATU national has set up two other organising initiatives for the next 3 months – a Latin American Tenants Organising Group and a Council and Social Tenants Organising Group. So, if you are a CATU member and council/social housing tenant, or a tenant from the Latin American Community, email us on catuireland@gmail.com, and we can get you started with organising!

🤝 The Union’s first national Organiser will hopefully be hired and getting started over the next few weeks, their job will be to help support committees, plan campaigns and grow new local groups.

👩‍💻 The CATU Annual General Meeting will be held in February 2021. At the AGM all National Committee positions are up for election and motions can be proposed which will form Union policy. More details in the coming months. 📁
